Likewise....I think that's why I have avoided King. And that's why this group is so valuable!

Yes! When my oldest daughter was a teenager I tried to read every book she read . . . until she began reading King. then I quit.

But later I found out that Lori wasn't reading some of those books, only pretending to so that I wouldn't read the books she was reading!

One of my favorite authors is Michael Shaara, and his son Jeff. Michael wrote Killer Angels about the generals who fought at Gettysburg. It won the Pulitzer in 1974.

I really like David Baldacci. I think mostly because my son (with military and law enforcement background) also reads them and we discuss.

I enjoy Nicholas Sparks! He has a new book out— Dreamland—and I believe a movie is being made also.

and I've actually gone back and read some of the "classics" like Huck Finn with it's contemporary relevance.

Ron Rash is a local author (he taught at Tri County Tech) who writes novels about this area. One Foot in Eden mimics the land acquisition process for Lake Keowee before flooding.
